Sneaker Luv

March 26, 2009

Hai. IRL I’m totally a sneaker girl. Mind you I like my heels and boots(!), but when walk around I want to be comfortable because that’s when I’m at my best. My philosophy: carry a big sack, wear some cute kicks and pull out the heels when you arrive at your destination. ;)) Today I bring to you my new favorites, Aitui’s “9ifni”. The name is Aitui mirrored horizontally. ;)) I’m really excited about these sneakers because they rock sooo hard and you can tell the kind of craftsmanship that was put into them. The look of the sneaker is totally cool, very distinctly Aitui with that perfect shadowy texture and I think, in the world of SL sneakers, 9ifni’s look is very fresh. As a SL sneaker addict, I can honestly say that I was able to justify the addition of these into my wardrobe since their look is something new. Versatility comes with this shoe, as there are 7 color changing parts and 15 colors to choose from (someone do the math…), my favorite being the muted rose color named “Clay.” The colors aren’t tints either, they are textures, which makes all the difference as you loose a bit of the texture when you tint something. Each color is rich, deep and lustrous. The style is totally unisex and resizable too. I have a bunch of outfits planned for this sneaker as it’ll go with just about every color scheme imaginable, but today I bring you an urban inspired look that’s comfy, casual and a bit flashy. Hope you enjoy! :) <3xo, Abra

Hahaha…nerdwerst…mmmhmm. It’s what my brother and I call each other when we’re being the ultimate in uncool. It’s actually a compliment, since we all know that to be cool you gotta rock the uncool factor. This outfit has some uncool aspects to it: the thrift store glasses, the ‘classic’ jacket, the fire crotchety hair. I think that’s why I love it. I built this look around the awesome spats I’m wearing. They’re made by my friend December, of Tarnished fame, and I’m totally smitten with them! For me, anything that gives me an excuse to wear legwarmers is automatically on my lust list. Lucky for me, the warmers are built in on this one! Wooo…!!! You can take these shoes in many different directions, and even loose the warmers if you care to (they have a mary jane buckle ankle strap underneath), and they’d be equally cute and interesting paired with a skirt or dress, etc.

I really love Zero Style hair and I’ve been waiting a while to wear this CSR prize style. When I first saw the hair I thought it would have been easiest for me to take it in a super cute direction and I had to resist. I thought this nerdy look would be a fun way to wear it and I love this ‘Auburn’ color which is rich and warm and nummy. The coat is from Total Betty, from the ‘College Bound’ collection, which is made of neutral colored, classic, staple pieces and all of it is really versatile and charming. I really like the collection and picked up a skirt (not pictured) along with the jacket which I’ll hopefully wear in a future post. (They have been, like most good items, sitting in the depths of my ‘closet’ patiently waiting for their day in the sun. Hopefully soon.)

The scarf is from Kristen Pick’s Alta Moda store which was one of the first stores I wrote about here, “way back when.” She’s now expanded and her place is in Bijou’s old store location. I’m really excited to see what she brings out as I really enjoy her line. Just check out the fantastic Beyonce Diva shades she whipped up for Uma! I like this scarf, “Ignition”, because it’s shorter and therefore can act as a collar. The TB coat doesn’t have a prim collar so this scarf acts as a good ‘finish.’ The pants are a stand by, Armidi’s skinny pant. I will always have love for them and they do what a good pant should do: come in a ton of colors, they work well with the statement pieces and they make your bum look good.

My bag is by =E.M.A= and I’ve had it tucked away for a while. I knew I had a good bag which referenced a classic school messenger! The bag is done really well and the attention to detail is great. I wanted to point out the rings I’m wearing. The first is Georgiabean Lately’s Ladybug ring which I have a special fondness for. I just think ladybugs are adorable plus they are considered lucky, which couldn’t hurt. ;)) The bow ring is from Demonade and I stumbled across the store in a random sim. I’d been after a good sculpty bow ring for a while and I was excited to find them in a ton of colors. The ring comes with a version for the left and right hands so you don’t need to adjust them yourself, a nice touch since most of my rings fit on the left hand and I like to pile on accessories. Oh and the Mom glasses from Yummy! What can I say? I love them. They sort of remind me of my grandma, who has light lavender ones that look exactly like these. For me there are only 4 types of glasses: HUGE, dorky, aviator and statement-weird. These are both huge and weird and I love the curve of the ‘arms.’

If you read this today, I urge you to run down to Cybernetic and pick up the free ‘Amy’ skin in the front of the women’s skin section. It was only suppose to be up for a day but it’s still there and it’s sooo pretty!! I hadn’t been to Cybernetic for a long time and after seeing the news of a freebie on the feed, popped on by. My has it changed!! When I was still a ‘noob’ I came across Cybernetic, which back then was very sci-fi looking, and picked up my first goth skin. Times have changed, as the sim is now ultra-luxe and the skins are decidedly softer and subtler. Usually I’m not the biggest fan of freebie skins, though occasionally I’ll come across a fantastic one. The “Amy” line certainly is that. I love the juicy lips with their dusting of sparkle, the small- yet not button- nose and the interesting eye makeups. The makeup I’m wearing is not the freebie one, but you can see it in this post. If you like it, and I’m most certain you will, I’d pop on by the store asap because there’s no telling how long it will be available. xoxo

This wasn’t a planned post outfit. I’ve been enjoying it so much I thought it would post it, haha. Sometimes the best outfits happen organically. Usually when I wear something prim and proper, it turns out to be a little odd, which is how I see this outfit. It’s definitely because of the skirt and the skin. I’ve been loving Fashionably Dead’s skins for a long time, but didn’t get around to owning any until yesterday. It’s kind of weird, sometimes I’ll own something for a long while before wearing it, or I’ll learn about something and file it away until it pops back into my conscious at a most appropriate moment. I’m visiting some fam right now and I remembered about this great deli that serves the best Bánh mì. I had missed it the last time I was in town and last night we were sitting around drinking wine and the thought popped into my head. Mission time! Same with the FD skin. Perfect, lightening-striking quickness, complete randomness, or is it? Happenstance? Whatever it is, I dig it. :D xoxo

BTW, I’m wearing the fiveminutesafter flats I’ve been in love with. A while back, I posted a pic on my flickr which lead to the discovery of the main shop’s ‘closing.’ I didn’t think it possible, as rockin’ stores should never close. And of course, it was a false alarm! Thankfully, for us. hehe. The new shop is located in the Creamshop sim, next to the record shop and ice cream parlor. :))

Too much/too young

Too much/too young | Six

My RL friend laughed when he saw this post. He says this is spot on, my daily look. I would concur, and yet I love pearls, I love leather, I love sneakers, I love jeans. (And I totally need a pair of sunglasses on most days for reasons that will go undiscussed here..) I dig good accessories and for the most part, I like a lot of them. This can change at any time and usually does, but my general rule is ‘more is more.’ Hey, it works for me.

To me this is an easy to wear outfit, with a lot of great pieces and a ton going on. It’s almost busy, and how a person can save busy outfits from going over the edge is to keep everything in the same tonal range or pick items that really compliment each other. The tee is a new fav, from AyYaiYai. I also picked up their cassette tee which is equally fun and totally unisex. There’s also this burger one out there on the grid, and I’m kicking myself for not getting it, only because all the shops can get jumbled in my head. (A new mission, for sure.) For me, if I really like it and it’s at a ‘non-main’ shop, I buy it. Or else it’s basically pixel dust to me. The world is big, SL is bigger. Smooches xo

Ballet Rock Scene

10.27.08 | Ballet Rock Scene

A little bit rock, with some ballet inspiration. The pink ruched top and leggings add a bit femininity to an otherwise tough outfit. The boots are a bit ballet inspired as well, their tops lending an almost legwarmer look to the leg.- now everyone is talking about these boots, and the coolest thing about them is you’re able to wear them 1001 ways. Tougher, as I’ve done, posh, ultra-modern, girly- you’re limited only by your imagination.

I’m really enjoying the skins from Skin e liciouz as of late. Famous for their black eye skin (which I adore), I finally took the plunge with notice of their 30% off sale. I love the lips of the Mila skin. Plump, matte and youthful. The makeup is the perfect balance of softness to contrast the tougher look of the jacket. The hair is a group gift for Seven Ultra Lounge’s VIPs. I also posted about it over at free*style. I love it that much! It’s from George Street, who I’ve known about for a while. They’re right by La Syphilide, and I’d stopped by before. They’re a real small shop as of now, only 4 hair styles in total. But all are lovely, unique and extremely well made. You’ll be seeing more styles on here soon- my wish is to see more make their way onto the seen asap.

Also wanted to mention the bangle-cum-armband, it’s from one of my favorite places to get plain, well made nails- Serenity Day Spa. I have a thing about having my nails done, and as you’d imagine I have been many places for nails. Something about Serenity keeps me coming back. For one, I love the design of the shop- instant calm on arrival. It really is a spa! You can go and get a massage, which I think is a cute touch. The building is gorgeous, full of bright light and warm woods. And the selection of products is quite nice. I saw the bangles and the price was right- L$50- so I scooped up all my favorite colors. I was happy when I noticed I could slip them up my arm- perfect fit! My petite shape means bangles look best when worn above my wrist. They are simple enough to wear all the time, yet their spiral shape adds a bit of interest, which is why I turn to them time and time again.
