Hi all, I have an inspired look for you today, built on some new releases and a few favorites. I’ve been wanting to build a look with Milk Motion‘s pants since their release, and it took a bit of time for me to find how I wanted to wear them. I made a pact with myself, that I won’t force myself to post something because it’s new or popular, etc. Only if I’m ‘feeling it,’ if that makes sense. I do this for two reasons: 1) I’ll showcase it as best I can then and 2) This is a lookbook. I share this with you because, as a blogger, to bloggers and fashion affectionados alike, above all, I delight in seeing something worn well and creatively. I realize there are a lot of different types of blogs out there, some mainly do reviews and so the point of them is to showcase ‘fresh stuff,’ so them excluded. (And I thank them for all the hard work and notifying they do for us.) For the rest of us, who cultivate lookbooks, my message to you is take your time and do it how you like it. If your point is to showcase your personal style, nothing will ever be too soon or too late, so just have fun with it and remember to play! Of course, we all have excitement in new finds, that’s different. Just no pressure, this is all in good fun. ^..^

Moving on, by far my favorite new hair by 69 is Beni. I love the striped beret and the sassy, straight-haired bob. It’s one of those hairs that adds just the right dash of personality to a look, and it’s equally fitting when worn with a one-off minidress or pin-straight black jeans. I’m so happy to see 69 back, btw, it’s been ‘too long’ of a wait for me, as I really love Kumii’s work and she does a durn good hat hair!

Giana of GiGi Couture wore these awesome Italiano shoes in her new (fab) jeans ad and I had to find out where to get them! Good timing on our parts, as they were just released today. I love their leather covered platforms and studding and all the options that come with them. (The shoe changes to black/red/white/brown.) Definitely a statement shoe (but not obnoxiously so), and one that is just classically edgy enough to be ‘forever current.’ Also ‘yay’ for awesome new shoe brands! If this is the first release for this brand, I’ll surely want to see more from Italiano.

DeLa released this Chanel clutch recently, and I love it! A classic, hard-shell shape with a feminine bow. One of those things you can dress up or down and wear with both pants and dresses. It makes a great party clutch, but even more so, adds some femininity to my tomboy pants and hard-nosed shoes.

The Albero summer fest is going on and there are some great new items out from some of my favorite stores like Fishy Strawberry and RunoRuno. You can’t really see it, but under my shirt is Barbee‘s Albero exclusive bikini. The red color is refreshing, since most of barbee’s line is black and white. Also on offer are these great new loose, drapey cardigans and I love them! I’ll be featuring them in a look soon, for sure.

One last note, the Harajuku Box skin fair is going on until the 28th, so be sure to stop in and grab all the limited edition offerings from Curio, Blowpop, League, 5th & Oxford, My UglyDorothy (pictured) and more. There are some mega cute skins available and you have to check them out. I like fairs like this, because it really brings designers out of their box and you see a lot of makeups you wouldn’t normally expect. Wewt. <33Love, Abra

Papillon Noir

June 2, 2009

Hola, I came back from the weekend and had a wealth of inspiration and absolutely no focus- lol- so this look too a while. It’s a bit dark and strange, and also feminine and old/new all at once. I’m still not over ROT’s boots, and I love this tube top from Traingle Cauldron’s shop. Tiny Words’ black lips are nummy on this Fashionably Dead skin. LaGyo‘s new Onyx necklace rocks my world as do my favorite Shade Throne earrings (how does one choose a favorite anyway?) KATATI makes one of the best free clocks in SL atm, as far as creativity is concerned. They also make my fav butterfly tattoos too; I’m loving the way they ‘fly up the body.’ Milk Motion‘s fringe skirt was a ‘love at first sight’ item, but sometimes it takes a bit to get an outfit together with something you love. (Go figure.) Wild O‘s superb updo + their monochromatic flowers. I’m loving SUGARCUBE’s new String Tanks- I’m only wearing the armbands at the moment, but the whole gettup is fantastic. It comes in 21 colors and the fatpack is, like 60% off or something like that, until the 7th I believe. Make sure you check your dates! I’m taking that info from the top of my head. Oh, and the ‘Mandatory Weird Accessory of the Day’ (;p) is GeorgiaBean Lately‘s Smokin’ Ben ciggie, which I’ve had for AGES and LOST and then I found it in an obviously labeled folder…mmhmm, doof…I love it and hope I see an updated version with sculpt and controlled smoke. (Ok, an obviously wish list item for me.)

Speaking of, it’s totally amazing to see how things are progressing- as far as quality and worksmanship go- in SL. I’m talking about everything, from hair to skin, clothing to shoes, houses, vehicles, everyweirditemyoucouldthinkof! Things are getting more and more ‘real’, unique and refined, as have everyone’s tastes too. I must thank all the talent out there for heightening my selectivity of inventory items. And every time, when I couldn’t imagine I’d come across a so-and-so thing in world, I do- and it’s better than I could imagine. Keep rockin’ in the free world. Love, Abra

ps. Remember the unavailable Geek Glasses in this post? Well Undooz has put them up for sale. Grab them, they are that good!

end of (my) week

May 28, 2009

Hi all, it’s been a few days, yea? Lately I’ve been feeling so creative, I’ve been working on some other things, which in turn has inspired me to blog! I’ve been feeling a lot of different looks, and here is a trio for you. I’m seriously regretting not taking out my piercing for the third one, but it’s ok. I’d gotten so use to using it, it was second nature to see it on my face! lol. Some notables are the frickin’ fantastic Shade Throne earrings (<3 Undo), NINIKO‘s new bow top, Esme Milena‘s new poses (not for sale yet, but I really hope she makes more and opens up shop…they are fantastic), the Kalnins‘ shoes everyone’s been in love over (srsly, from first sight…I was so enamoured with them it took me days and days to wear them…this happens sometimes with things I like too much, lol), ROT‘s authentic Doc Martin/Combat boots (not new, but worth mentioning since they are the best out there, imho), LaGyo‘s ‘Space Cuties’ choker (like all Gyo’s things, it’s edgy, girly and totally cool), [ glow ] studio‘s lashes (I’ve been meaning to post about them for ages, probably the most exciting place for lashes out there), Au Jus poses (small shop, new to me, and I like them) and booN‘s GIC128 hair (which is one of the newer styles, and completely saucy/cute and sooe wearable- I love the side curls). *phew* I had to do my loves in list form, to prevent you from reading a novel. ;)

Well, there’s lots of new things to come soon, and I’m exciting for some of the upcoming releases including BP* and LeLutka. (Bettiepage and Minnu have been posting tantilizing teasers on their flickrs and I’m really excited about it!!!) I’m out of town, for real, this weekend. (No bailout disaster camping, no way!) I’ll see everyone on Monday! =D Love, Abra

ps. I forgot to talk about Eva‘s Bubble Dress, which I wore 3 days in a row…with all three layers on, then as a skinner version with the top ‘puff off’ and then finally as a shirt. I wore it dressy, goth and casual…it’s so versatile! 3 days has to be a record for me. As James observed, “it’s the perfect combination of sculpt and flex. Check it out.

Tomboy Android

May 18, 2009

Hi all, well I tried so hard- so so hard- to be pretty and feminine today, but all I wanted to do was dress up in long shorts and baggy tees. (I was well meaning too, when I went to Kalnins to get the new heels Uma featured today, but all that did was remind me of the fantastic sneakers I picked up from there a while ago. lol. *sigh) Of course, I was feeling a little quirky too, and remembered I hadn’t worn my sweet Kurotsubaki Tree Leg and my badass Chapeau tres Mignon Daffy hat. (I told you I would, remember?) Then I pulled on some AVZ android arms and the look was off and running! Which I sure hope won’t cause to to go off and running, because let me tell you now, this is not a look for everyone. You have got to like a good quirk factor and you have to have humour. As for me? I love it! You probably already knew that, since now and then I’ll throw you a curve ball of a strange look. *winks. I’d also been meaning to purchase these Kurotsubaki short pants, ever since that day when I finally got to meet three of my flickr favs in world! Yay! I love that. Anyway. that day I was having trouble deciding what color I wanted (all?), so I held off until I knew (brown! of course! this is a pretty brown.) I also wanted to save one of the most exciting things about my look, for last: my new !Tarnished skin by one of my SLfavs, my friend December. I’ve mentioned her stuff in the blog quite a bit, most recently the cute Minnie Mouse-inspired dress she made, but I’m SO excited about this skin release because her skins are what initially drew me to her line. Her skins have always been beautiful, original and striking and this new one, “Dot,” is my favorite so far! (It even beat out Midnight Snowstorm, but it was a hard pressed decision, let me tell you.) Dot is super cute and so wearable! I’m smitten and you can be sure to see more of this skin on me in the future, especially when the other makeup variations come out. Horray! Hope you enjoy the look. :)) Love, Abra

ps. My photoshoot was real fun, so more photos for you! xD

milk jam

May 10, 2009

Hai, I did a little spring cleaning and added a lighter layout to the blog- I hope you like it! :)) Also, I’m not big into photoshopping my photos (read: mostly, too lazy) but I decided to play around with it today, so enjoy! It may be the first and last time I do it, who knows! ;p

Milk Motion is the talk of the town at the moment and I can’t help but join along. Along with the fantastic skin lines, MM’s beautiful clothes are completely wearable and unique in their own style. I’m really digging this vest I picked up last night. Imho, military style details are timeless in their nature, and this vest will be au courant for a long time to come. My pants are from Kyoot Army and are a newer part of the line. I love knee/elbow patches on pants and jackets- and these in tweed rock me hard. Last thing is the skin from Ti’ko, it’s from the May line and is radiant and dramatic with a pinch of cute thrown in. Well, I’m off to bed. It is l.a.t.e….!!! <3oxo, Abra
